In the last couple of days I finished final editing/mastering on my new concept album, Formation I: Through the Universe. I had a first draft done a while ago, but there were a couple of things that bugged me enough to hold back from a formal release. The first draft was posted on YouTube, if you want to take a listen (see bottom of this post for an embedded video). Consider it in a "final beta-test" stage right now, and expect the formal release pretty soon. I've also been doing a lot of thinking about the format/method I want to release my stuff in; I've been throwing things on a free generic file-sharing website up until now, but I wanted to find something more specific to music. After some deliberation I've decided to go with Bandcamp. They let me set the price (including free), allow for variable pricing, give full previews of all tracks that are uploaded, offer a variety of file formats for download, and properly tag the files. Plus they don't charge any monthly fees, just 15% commission on sales. As a bonus, they let you generate promo-codes and fun stuff like that, so I can even have sales and giveaways!!! Until next time. -Peter
